Iron Ore Header 1

Iron ores are rocks and minerals from which metallic iron can be extracted. There are four main types of iron ore deposit: hematite, which is the most commonly mined, magnetite, titanomagnetite, and pisolitic ironstone. These ores vary in color from dark grey, bright yellow, or deep purple to rusty red. Iron is responsible for the red color in many of Earth's rocks.
Almost all iron ore (98%) is converted into iron pellets for steel making which is then used in construction, transportation, energy infrastructure and household appliances. Iron ore is integral to the steel-making process and one of the most sought after commodities in the world.
There are iron ore deposits all over the world, with Australia, Brazil, the United States and Canada being the largest producing countries. We have interests in iron ore assets in the Middle East. With 15 mines, 7 processing hubs and 4 port facilities, our Middle East iron ore business is all connected by more than 1,000 kilometers of rail infrastructure. At each mining hub, iron ore from the mines is crushed, beneficiated (where necessary) and blended to create high-grade magnetite and hematite lump and fines products.

We expect the world to need iron ore for as long as the world needs steel. The challenge for steel making is to produce this vital commodity to enable sustainable growth, while reducing the greenhouse gas emissions footprint of the production process itself. The ramp up of the US$1.8 billion new magnetite iron ore mine, in the Middle East is ahead of schedule and we have revised our medium-term production guidance to more than 300 Mtpa. We are assessing expansion alternatives to take us toward 330 Mtpa of production.
HOMA Group stands out as one of the fastest growing traders among the steel exporters in the Middle East. The group also ships steel products, break bulk, also acts as wholesale stockist managing inland distribution. The goods traded include: magnetite and hematite iron ore in both lump and fine forms.
